Michelle Au (2007-08 Graduate)

Currently job: Political Assistant to Secretary for the Environment, HKSAR Government

Kevin Chan (2017-18 Graduate)

Currently job: Safety Manager, Building Developer in Hong Kong

Zhu Minming (2017-18 Graduate)

Currently job: Assistant environmental Consultant, Meinhardt Group

Bai Ling (2017-18 Graduate)

Current Job: Graduate trainee in Taikang Rehabilitation Hospital, Beijing

I am really fortunate to major in Environmental and Public Health Management in HKBU. First, as expected, I obtained much knowledge about how to protect the environment and improve public health through professional management techniques. My written and oral English also improved a lot as all the courses and teaching materials were in English. Second, I acquired comprehensive ability like self-learning ability and team-working ability. For example, the success of each presentation hinges on the overall understanding of a particular field and the cooperation of all the team members. Last but not the least, I made friends with my teachers and classmates. When I encountered any difficulty, my teachers gave me suggestions and my classmates also supported me. I will always treasure such friendship. In a word, what I experienced in HKBU left numerous beautiful memories to me. I love our big family, EPHM.

Wen Quan (2017-18 Graduate)

I am fortunate to study in EPHM. In this program, I have learned a lot about basic knowledge of public health, such as epidemiology and toxicology, which have great relevance to my current work in CDC. It also trained me up in research methodology, from how to design an experiment to how to obtain the conclusion from the processed data. Moreover, I have made friends with many classmates. I will never forget the support and encouragement from the teachers of the Programme. What I have experienced in EPHM is beautiful and unforgettable and best wishes to the EPHM program and all the teaching staff in this program!

Zhao Jinqi (2017-18 Graduate)

Current Job: PhD candidate, Minzu University of China

Wang Ke (2019-20 Graduate)

Current Job: Officer, Guangdong Health Commission, Disease prevention and control

Luo Xiuqi (2015-16 Graduate)

Current Job: APAC Trade Control and Product Stewardship Supervisor, private company in Shanghai

Wu Guannan (2015-16 Graduate)

Current Job: Business Development Manager, Bureau Veritas

Yao Yao (2012-13 Graduate)

Current Job: Director of Marketing and Solutions, NXROBO

CHEN Qihang (2011-12 Graduate)

Current job: Officer, Zhongshan Environmental Protection Bureau

Chen Zhangling (2018-19 Graduate)

Current job: PhD Candidate, University of Leeds, UK

Although one year of study time is short, I have gained a lot in this process. First of all, EPHM is an interdisciplinary programme which can accommodate students from different undergraduate backgrounds. In the process of learning, I do not only learn environment-related knowledge, but also have exposure to other fields like public health and food safety. Such rich experience can increase employment opportunities for me in the future. Second, I am very impressed with the free academic atmosphere at BU. In the classroom, teachers paid great attention to the interaction between them and our students.

They discouraged students to regurgitate knowledge books, but strongly encouraged us to put forward our own ideas. In the writing of graduation thesis, the supervisor did not keep reminding me of the deadlines at each stage, she preferred to let me arrange the schedule instead. My English was not good when I first started the study, but the English-speaking environment created a good opportunity for me to brush up my language ability quickly. The Programme offered many presentation opportunities for me to give an English speech in front of many classmates. Moreover, EPHM also provided a free supplementary English course for students to study. In this course, I learnt how to write English academic essays and give oral presentation. These experiences have made great improvements in my communication and language abilities. All in all, I have met many excellent teachers and kind classmates in this programme. I really enjoy the learning time of this one year.

Shen Hanyang (2010-11 Graduate)

Current Job: PhD candidate, Stanford University, USA

After graduated from my undergraduate, I felt lost and was unsure about my career path. However, I have developed a passion on academic research after studying in the EPHM program. EPHM offers multidimensional courses based on well-established methodology and meticulously designed field studies related to environmental and public health topics. Interacting with advisors from a wide range of disciplines in environmental and public health management in the Programme, I began to enjoy the courses and fieldwork a lot and eventually developed a passion to conduct research in this direction. Besides, being surrounded by classmates from various backgrounds, I learned how to communicate with people with different views and backgrounds. Choosing to join the EPHM program is the changing point of my career, and I am proud of being one of the EHPM alumni.
